I model what I coach
My conviction
I am convinced that leaders are successful when they have inner clarity about themselves and their goals in life, and this certainty and composure shows in their actions. Teams respond to this clarity with trust and commitment. For me, analytical thinking and a mindful attitude go hand in hand to achieve one’s goals and leave a sustainable footprint. It was this conviction that led me to become a coach more than twenty years ago, and it continues to inspire and motivate me to accompany leaders and teams on their journey.

How does a former McKinsey coach come to mindfulness?
McKinsey and mindfulness were still very exotic in the early 2000s. My aha moment came when I was on my way to a consulting team, standing in the airport and not knowing where to fly to. Blackout and the realization that something had to change in my life.
Time management and relaxation exercises didn’t work for me. But meditation did. Back at the airport: Friday evening, full check-in hall, long delay and aggressive mood. So I plugged in my earphones and let an app guide me through my first meditation. Afterwards, an almost serene composure set in.
Impressed by the effect, I deepened meditation. Since then I have been living mindfulness. I switch more quickly from autopilot to conscious action, constantly improve my mental fitness, and remain calmer under stress. I pass on these experiences in my coaching and in the Search Inside Yourself training.
